Jan Wilson takes on Head of Development to spearhead technology expertise

Jan Wilson has been appointed as Head of Development at Aquarium, to consolidate and strengthen the technology skill set within the company’s development and support teams.

With more than 30 years’ experience in the IT software industry, Jan joined Aquarium in October 2018 to streamline the processes and quality standards required for PCI DSS and ISO 27001/9001 compliance.

As the newly created Head of Development, Jan is responsible for developing the breadth and depth of cloud-based and core Microsoft .NET skills across the technology teams, strengthening best practices and ensuring that skill sets are completely up to date.

“We have a huge pool of technical expertise here at Aquarium and these underpin the quality and robustness of our digital insurance platform,” says Jan.  “One of my challenges is to catalogue our existing skills and then to ensure the team gains an even broader skill set.  We want to be in a position where we have flexible technology resources that will help us stay agile and responsive as a business.”

Before joining Aquarium, Jan gained a broad set of technical skills. This includes work on the technical design and reporting framework for the Home Office Fire and Rescue Service Incident Recording System.  Jan notes that the considerable experience gained from this project is relevant to the task ahead at Aquarium.

Ed Shropshire, Managing Director at Aquarium comments, “Ensuring a broad skills base across our technology teams is part of our business growth strategy.  I have every confidence that Jan will upskill our development and support teams, so that we can continue to deliver the best possible digital platform to our insurance customers.”
